Peggy Baker Dance
In December 2019, the team based themselves in downtown Toronto and spent a week working closely with the Peggy Baker Dance team to create the roadmap that would protect Peggy’s amazing career legacy and ensure accessibility worldwide.
It was a project that required sensitivity, compassion, clear thinking and an understanding of the dance world and performing arts.
The challenge was to embrace and capture the past works whilst still enabling the future creative drive of Peggy
Discovery
We ran multiple face to face workshops covering branding, performance, the current digital archive, IT infrastructure, users expectations and funding
Desk Research
Alongside the workshops, we investigated previous successful legacy projects from around the world with a special interest in work carried out in the USA. This approach alongside the analysis of the existing digital archive Peggy had created allowed us to outline an approach that would offer access, longevity and artistic protections.
Digital Infrastructure
The small team at Peggy Baker Dance didn’t have particularly complex IT. However, by deploying some online platforms and integrating them further we were able to reduce some operating costs as well save time and effort freeing up precious resources for more productive activities.

A Clear and Actionable Digital Roadmap
The project culminated in a Digital Roadmap report, which outlined key opportunities and actions, against a detailed timeline and with the indicative investment required.
We focused heavily on capturing and protecting Peggy’s waxing thirty-year legacy as one fo the top contemporary dancers in the world.
Alongside this, we embraced some of her technology innovations, especially around the accessibility issues for the deaf and for those with special needs to see how we could take these innovations further and reach a broader audience.
Finally, our IT workstream saved money and supported better productivity delivering impact on the companies bottom line as well as drive impact into more customer-centric activities.
2 years on
Since we delivered the road map we have kept in touch with Peggy and her team, travelling top The Hague to see the performance of her "Who we are in the Dark" and most recently assisting in the launch of her archive web site.
Peggy herself wrote to Steve personally thanking him for the efforts fo the team and the impact they had on the ideation and creation of the now launched Archive web site.
